the animal justice task force

The Animal Justice Task Force is the legal and advocacy arm of Rescue Pink, created to bring accountability, transparency, and urgency to animal cruelty and neglect cases. The Task Force focuses on ensuring that animal-related crimes are taken seriously within the justice system—by law enforcement, prosecutors, and the courts—and that animals are not forgotten once a case enters the legal process.

Through court monitoring, public records review, and direct advocacy, the Task Force tracks animal cruelty cases from investigation through resolution. We identify delays, failures to prosecute, improper plea deals, and statute-of-limitations issues, and we publicly and formally challenge those breakdowns when they occur. Our work shines a light on patterns of inaction and helps ensure that cases are handled lawfully, timely, and in a way that prioritizes animal welfare and public safety.

The Animal Justice Task Force also serves as a voice for the animals who cannot speak for themselves. By educating the public, engaging media, and collaborating with advocates, veterinarians, and legal professionals, we push for systemic reform and stronger enforcement of existing laws. Our goal is simple but critical: to make animal cruelty prosecutions consistent, transparent, and meaningful—so abuse is not ignored, minimized, or repeated.

About the Animal Justice Task Force

The Animal Justice Task Force was created to address the ongoing failure to properly prosecute animal cruelty cases in Florida. Too often, clear abuse goes unpunished—or barely punished—and the system allows it to continue.

We’re here to change that.

  • we Monitor cruelty cases and track whether justice is served

  • we Push for prosecutors and law enforcement to fully enforce existing laws

  • we Advocate for stronger animal protection policies

  • we Educate the public about the gaps in the system

We also created a voting bloc to:

  • Track how elected officials vote on animal welfare issues

  • Educate the public about which leaders are helping—or hurting—animals

  • Promote and support animal-friendly candidates in future elections

The goal is simple: protect animals, hold people accountable, and change the system for good.
